I was walking around the church last night, saying the rosary and the moon was out. I don't think I've ever seen moonshine in a church building before, but this one has a very large sky-lighted area.
It reminded me that, while its quite commonplace to see Christ as the Sun, rising in the East and bringing light to the world, in traditional theological currents, Mary has been seen as the Moon. She reflects the light of her divine Son and thus herself shines brightly; those who hide in the darkness from the blinding light of Christ find themselves standing in the Moonlight.
